Oriko tried to martyr herself as a common enemy to get Homura, Mami, and Sayaka to get along. As such, she orchestrated the current state of the White Ribbon group. She was captured and placed under house arrest after burning down Sayaka's home. We've since convinced her that she doesn't have to die to find the meaning of her life.
